Setting New Year Intentions That Work

As we move from a very tumultuous 2020 to 2021 it’s as important as ever to set our goals and intentions that are truly in alignment with our highest wellbeing and selves. If your like me I used to always have the generic New Year Intentions around a “New Year New Me” vibe. But honestly I never stuck to them. Maybe first few weeks but unless our intentions are coming from a higher place, not just from what our ego, society or people around us are saying or doing. Influence needs to come from something that inspires you. Intentions are often set with fear not love, because many of us can feel like another year has been wasted, not living up to our own expectations. 

But what if that’s all a load of rubbish? 

Instead of setting intentions for changing something outward such as your body, appearance, job etc. Let’s work on intentions that help us to become a more confident version of who we are already. Doing more of the things we love. Not setting intentions around lack such as diets, restrictions, exercise. Honestly even writing about it makes my energy feel low. So no wonder we don’t stick to it. 

How To Set Higher Intentions

How do you want to FEEL next year? Let’s start there. What would your vision be of your happiest self? What are you doing? Where are you? Imagine your smiling beautiful face. Your excited, passionate, happy and fulfilled. Your emotions have such a strong power behind them that they can literally change your life. Your emotions are frequency in action. It is actionable energy that can dictate whether a day goes good or bad. And is not dependant on external influences. YOU choose your thoughts, energy and emotions. Noone else. Take that on board, and even just that and it can change your life. 

So how do we choose our thoughts?

Conscious decision making around what we allow in our lives and what we immediately let go off when we feel our energy get low. A colleague at work has a bad day and their bitching at you about it. How would that normally make you feel? Maybe you feel a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. Maybe you start moaning too and it all starts draining your energy. Well instead of allowing that sinking feeling to set in because of someone else’s energy, immediately block it. Breathe into your heart. And say I am Love (of course to yourself but maybe it wouldn’t do any harm saying it to a negative Nellie).

Make more of a conscious effort next year to follow your heart, and what raises your vibration not what brings you down. When you set your intentions from that space of love, freedom and compassion for yourself, then your intentions are that much more powerful.
